Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Tyler's Fourth in Last Five Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Doddridge County, Tyler was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Ritchie County Rebels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-0 back in March.

Brennon Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reese Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Tyler is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ritchie County, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tyler will be taking part in a tournament against Wheeling Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maroon Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ritchie County, they will host Doddridge County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
