Two dominant signal callers in Robert Pineda and Johan Nunez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Los Fresnos Falcons will face off against the Economedes Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Fresnos is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Los Fresnos duked it out with Hanna on Friday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 28-7 win. The Falcons' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Tyler Stachowiak had a dynamite game, rushing for 52 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also picking up 72 receiving yards. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards.
Los Fresnos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Leading the way was Hector Resendiz and his one interception.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 59 points the game before, Economedes was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 37-13 to Weslaco. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Los Fresnos will have to contain Carlos Garcia as he made an impact in Economedes' last game. He rushed for 88 yards and one score on only nine carries.
Having lost for the first time this season, Economedes fell to 9-1. As for Los Fresnos, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Los Fresnos has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Economedes struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 370.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Los Fresnos against Economedes in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 42-13 win. In that matchup, the Falcons amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
