After flying high against the John Marshall Monarchs last Tuesday, the Oak Glen Golden Bears came back down to earth. Oak Glen was the victim of a rough 77-51 loss at the hands of East Liverpool on Friday. Oak Glen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.
Despite the loss, Oak Glen saw an underclassman step up: Tyler Evans scored 13 points. Evans continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Dennis, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Preston Kerr, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds for East Liverpool. Kerr hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Malachi Reed was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Oak Glen has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for East Liverpool, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Glen will take on Brooke at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brooke has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for East Liverpool, they will head out on the road to challenge Salem at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
