Baseball Game Preview: Minneola Wildcats vs. Stanton County Trojans

Minneola has gone a perfect 3-0 against Stanton County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Stanton County will be up against a hot Minneola team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Wildcats blew past Skyline 11-1 on Tuesday.

Levi Lang and Cash Lang were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Lang struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cash tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Levi is becoming a predictor of Minneola's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). At the plate, Lang got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Cash went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Levi has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kade Haydock was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season. Another player making a difference was Kit Dilley, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Minneola always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Stanton County unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Southwestern Heights by a score of 13-12.

Stanton County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Minneola, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.

Minneola beat Stanton County 12-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
