Payton Aldridge made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison Mitchell was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Samantha Martens, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Meadowdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Edmonds-Woodway, falling 11-1.
Riu Hanrahan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Everything went Meadowdale's way against Shorecrest when the teams last played back in April, as Meadowdale made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
