The Seagraves Eagles will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Morton Indians at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Seagraves might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Ropes an easy 62-41 win. While losing is never fun, Seagraves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1462nd, while Ropes is ranked 336th).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Morton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 51-34 bruising from Whitharral. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morton in their matchups with Whitharral: they've now lost seven in a row.
This is the second loss in a row for Seagraves and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Morton, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-5.
Seagraves didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Morton when the teams last played back in February of 2022, but they still walked away with a 61-55 win. Does Seagraves have another victory up their sleeve, or will Morton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
