Basketball Recap: Christian Learning Center Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was fun while it lasted, but Christian Learning Center's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Friday. They took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clinton Christian Academy Patriots. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 93rd in Kansas, while the Patriots are ranked 228th in Missouri).

Christian Learning Center's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adelyn Paranto, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points and three steals. That was a full 35.1% of Christian Learning Center's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Jacobs, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points.

Clara Hyke continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clinton Christian Academy, going 9 of 17 en route to 20 points along with eight boards and four steals. Hyke has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played. Carissa Compton was another key player, putting up six points.

Christian Learning Center's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1. As for Clinton Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Learning Center will face off against Heartland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian Learning Center is facing Heartland at the right time seeing as Heartland is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Clinton Christian Academy, they will challenge El Dorado Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
