The Evangel Christian Lightning waltzed into their contest Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 35-26 victory over Tabernacle. That's another feather in the cap for Evangel Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Evangel Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Casadie Dixon, who scored ten points. Hallie Wells was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Evangel Christian pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Tabernacle, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evangel Christian will finish 2023 at home by hosting Banks Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Banks Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Evangel Christian is ranked 201st). Tabernacle will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cornerstone Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
