The team relied heavily on Justin Brock, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Sarasota Christian is undefeated when Brock posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Randall Collins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Sarasota Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Babcock, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lehigh with a sharp 12-0 win on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trailblazers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Rayden Waletko made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Waletko was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brodie Duncan was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Paxton Cooper was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Sarasota Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Babcock, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Sarasota Christian took their win against Babcock in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Blazers repeat their success, or do the Trailblazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
