The Athens Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Northeast Bradford Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Athens might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 65-46 to Mansfield, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Athens has not had much luck with Mansfield recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Defeat or not, Athens got some senior leadership from Connor Mosher and Korey Miller. Mosher almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, while Miller. scored 11 points along with four steals. Miller has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Babcock, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Northeast Bradford came up short against North Penn-Liberty on Thursday and fell 52-45.
Athens has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Northeast Bradford, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
Athens strolled past Northeast Bradford in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 55-40. Does Athens have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northeast Bradford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
