Leelynd Durbin Has Career-Day on Friday
Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Durbin rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Flanagan/Woodland pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Durbin and Flanagan/Woodland will venture away from home to square off against Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Austin Nelson Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Friday, West Prairie/Southeastern got the W thanks in part to Austin Nelson playing the best football he has all season. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
If the past is any indication, Nelson could be in store for another big game when he takes on Peoria Heights on Friday. Nelson rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries the last time he and Peoria Heights duked it out back in September of 2023.

Seth Jones posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns.

Thanks in part to Matt Whitman, West Prairie/Southeastern said goodbye to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season. Whitman was dynamite on Friday, rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 34 yards and a touchdown.
This year, Whitman has thrown 2 touchdowns while averaging 26.5 passing yards per game.

West Prairie/Southeastern's Losing Streak Is No More Thanks to Braden Coplan
