Everett and Medford are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Crimson Tide will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. Medford took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Everett, who comes in off a win.
Everett is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Chelsea a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Crimson Tide with their most commanding win of the season.
Charlie Govostes and Luke Wood made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Govostes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wood struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave Govostes a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Govostes went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Wood went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those runs were Govostes' first of the season.
In other batting news, Tyler Freni and Caden Foley did most of the damage at the plate: Freni got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Foley got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI and one run. That's the most runs Freni has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was MJ Guida, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Everett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Medford fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Woburn Memorial on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tanners by a score of 6-5.
Medford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Wright, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Everett and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Medford, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Medford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Everett hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Medford, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Everett's hitters?
Everett might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Medford in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Crimson Tide avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
