The Front Range Christian Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Front Range Christian has struggled recently with 14 defeats in a row, while the Buffaloes will arrive with 13 straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 99-27, which was the final score in Front Range Christian's tilt against the Thunder on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Front Range Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Thunder are ranked 87th).
Despite their loss, Front Range Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ethan Martin, who scored 11 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haedan Morton, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bishop Machebeuf put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Denver Jewish Day at home to the tune of 72-37. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Bishop Machebeuf had established a 27 point advantage.
Miles Edgar-Parchman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kibre Sibhat, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Front Range Christian dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bishop Machebeuf, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Front Range Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bishop Machebeuf struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Front Range Christian came up short against the Buffaloes in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 85-76. Thankfully for Front Range Christian, Joe Cichos (who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
