4A Region IV District 25 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Brandon Hopp and Tevin Smith provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Vandegrift. The connection went for 78 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region IV District 25 this season.
Cedar Park was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league.
Mike Richardson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Marble Falls fell to Rouse. He completed 22 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 76 yards. Richardson's favorite target this week was Garrett Gray, who caught 10 passes for 143 yards.
Hopp threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns. He went 11-14 with one interceptions.
Billy McCrary was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 221 yards as the Raiders fell to the Raiders. Teammate Justin Pelt added to the ground attack by rushing for 125 yards.
Marble Falls' Richardson and Gray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region IV District 25 in both passing and receiving yards. Richardson has thrown for 1886 yards this season, while Gray has 54 catches for 804 yards. McCrary from Rouse leads the league in rushing with 853 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against the Vipers, Richardson is short just 114 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Leander was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Vandegrift. The Lions came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
