Curtis hasn't had much luck against Puyallup recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Curtis will look to defend their home field against Puyallup at 3:30 p.m.
Curtis came up short against Emerald Ridge on Monday, falling 10-3.
Kylie Smith put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Hope Winer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Sophia Woodall also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Puyallup came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Sentinels get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The Vikings' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four contests.
Like Curtis, Puyallup also got a great game from a two-way player: Lilith Beach. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Beach a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Puyallup got a massive performance out of Ella Williams, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Williams a new career-high. Kayla Ringenbach was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Puyallup always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Curtis' defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Puyallup, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
