The Triton Central Tigers on the road again on Friday and play against the Eastern Hancock Royals at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Triton Central posted their biggest victory since December 27, 2023 on Thursday. Everything went their way against Beech Grove as Triton Central made off with a 49-23 win. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 13 more assists than your opponent, as Triton Central did.
Triton Central relied on the efforts of Quinn King, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals, and Maryrose Felling, who scored 20 points along with four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Felling has scored at least a third of Triton Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Bailey, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eastern Hancock came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 65-38 win over Tri.
Eastern Hancock's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ruby White, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. McKenzie Koch was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds.
Triton Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Eastern Hancock, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Triton Central have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Eastern Hancock struggles in that department as they've made 46.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Triton Central came up short against Eastern Hancock in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 50-41. Can Triton Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
