The Texas School for the Deaf Rangers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the John Paul II Centurions at 5:15 p.m. on January 18th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Texas School for the Deaf is ranked 1205th, while John Paul II is ranked 1224th).
Last Saturday, Texas School for the Deaf ended up a good deal behind California School for the Deaf and lost 40-25.
Meanwhile, John Paul II's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 75-40 loss at the hands of Holy Cross. John Paul II has struggled against Holy Cross recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Eliseo Garcia put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Enriquez, who scored eight points.
John Paul II struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Holy Cross pulled down 19 offensive rebounds.
Texas School for the Deaf has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for John Paul II, they bumped their record down to 12-18 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Texas School for the Deaf ended up a good deal behind John Paul II in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 69-50. Can Texas School for the Deaf avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
