Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 68-39 defeat at the hands of the Spartans on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Eastern Greene can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Spartans are ranked 20th).
Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keylee Hudson, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Wyatt, who scored eight points.
Eastern Greene has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for South Knox, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 23-1.
Eastern Greene does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Knox also has no future games currently scheduled.
