Auburn will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Bland-Rocky Gap at 7:00 PM. Auburn are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the matchup prepared for a fight.
Auburn were the first on the board but had to settle for second at the end of their game against Grayson County last Friday. Auburn took a hard 14-33 fall against Grayson County. Despite the defeat, Auburn saw an underclassman step up: Sophomore Payson Kelley rushed for 88 yards and 1 touchdown. Kelley has now scored at least one touchdown in the past seven games.
Meanwhile, Bland-Rocky Gap found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 6-28 punch to the gut against Rural Retreat. Bland-Rocky Gap were down by 6-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. We'll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
