North Edgecombe is 2-8 against Weldon since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The North Edgecombe Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Weldon Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
North Edgecombe had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington County.
Despite the loss, North Edgecombe saw an underclassman step up: KeZiyah Pittman scored 21 points. ChyAsia Garrett was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Weldon took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They blew past KIPP P, posting a 70-23 win at home.
Weldon can attribute much of their success to Shaelyn Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 steals. Another player making a difference was Briana Moody, who scored 18 points.
North Edgecombe's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Weldon, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
North Edgecombe came out on top in a nail-biter against Weldon in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 58-55. Does North Edgecombe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Weldon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
