Baseball Recap: Kendrick Has No Trouble Against Prairie

Kendrick barely beat Prairie the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Pirates 17-3 on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hudson Kirkland made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Kendrick got a massive performance out of Xavier Carpenter, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Morgan Boyer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Kendrick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Kendrick's record is now 9-0. As for Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kendrick will square off against Clearwater Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Prairie, they will face off against Troy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
