Mohawk has gone a perfect 3-0 against St. Paul recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Flyers at 11:00 a.m. Mohawk will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
Mohawk had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt McComb on Friday. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Katie Woodland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Brickner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Paul, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past St. Mary Central Catholic 16-10 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Flyers brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Ella Kalizewski, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Payton Preston was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
St. Paul kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They got seven more hits than St. Mary Central Catholic's also-impressive total of 14.
Mohawk's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season. As for St. Paul, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
St. Paul's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mohawk has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. It's a different story for St. Paul, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Mohawk's sizable advantage in that area, the Flyers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mohawk took their victory against St. Paul in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flyers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
