The Hilton Head Island Seahawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Carvers Bay at home by a decisive 49-33 margin.
Loss or not, Hilton Head Island got some senior leadership from Deja Godsun who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals and Emilie Fister who scored five points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Godsun pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Carvers Bay found their leader in underclassman Jurnee Blye, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Blye has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Essence Graham, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Hilton Head Island has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Carvers Bay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Island will take on Colleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Colleton County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Carvers Bay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Clarendon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (East Clarendon is ranked 110th, while Carvers Bay is ranked 108th).
