Niles Notre Dame has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Marist RedHawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Niles Notre Dame made off with a 21-20 win over De La Salle.
Meanwhile, Marist waltzed into Thursday's match with three straight wins but they left with four. They breezed by DePaul College Prep at home to the tune of 42-13. Considering Marist has won three matches by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Marist's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Owen Winters, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and John McAuliffe, who rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Winters was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Kamil Kokot made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Niles Notre Dame's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Marist, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Niles Notre Dame came up short against Marist in their previous meeting back in October, falling 35-26. Can Niles Notre Dame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
