Aldine is 0-10 against MacArthur since March of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Generals at 6:30 p.m. Aldine has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Aldine's last matchup with Nimitz could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Mustangs lost 17-7 to the Cougars.
Leilani Fortanela was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Amy Cerda was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, MacArthur came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Generals have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Miranda Machado made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run.
In other batting news, Ariana Castillo was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Amanda Morales, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
MacArthur pushed their record up to 9-9-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Aldine, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
