Montpelier has gone a perfect 8-0 against Edon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Locomotives will head out on the road to challenge the Bombers at 5:00 p.m. Montpelier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Montpelier proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 33) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hilltop, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Locomotives have posted since May 17, 2024.

Madelyn Hopper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jada Uribes, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Lyla Mahan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Edon came up short against Hilltop on Tuesday, falling 14-1. The Bombers haven't had much luck with the Cadets recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Edon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Montpelier has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Edon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Edon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Montpelier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. It's a different story for Edon, though, as they've only averaged .193. Will they be able to contain Montpelier's hitters?
Montpelier took their victory against Edon when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Locomotives since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
