2A Conference 14 recap September 4, 2013
Southwest Edgecombe's Devontrell Hyman recorded the longest rushing play in 2A Conference 14 this season in his game against North Edgecombe last week. Hyman's team beat the Warriors as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 186 in all.
Farmville Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 267 from 294 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Jaguars climbed the ranks as a result of topping North Lenoir 46-16.
Markel Spencer was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 185 yards on 15 carries as Washington bested Tarboro. Teammate Stevie Green added to the ground attack by rushing for 130 yards.
Tyquavious Wooten put up the best numbers through the air as Southwest Edgecombe bested North Edgecombe. He finished with 4 completions for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Marrero was the best receiver in 2A Conference 14 this week as the Pam-Pack defeated the Vikings.
Hyman was a passing and rushing force as Jonathan Cobb's team beat the Warriors.
Thanks to the talents of Wooten and Hyman, the Cougars have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Wooten leads the league in passing with 155 yards, while Hyman has rushed for 329 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is Beddingfield's JAVIUS NIXON, with 90 yards on 4 catches.
Southwest Edgecombe took down North Edgecombe 54-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hyman caught 2 passes for 19 yards in the win.
