Leakey is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Rising Star. Leakey blew past Rising Star 59-14 on the road on Thursday.
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Kellan Hidalgo and his top target Paul Pintor. Hidalgo threw for 228 yards and five touchdowns on only nine passes while Pintor picked up 186 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Mason Boatwright made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Leakey's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged four passes before it was all said and done. Vincent Pintor led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss) in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Meanwhile, Cherokee never let their opponents score on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Highland 49-0 on the road.
