The Oley Valley Lynx won the last time they faced the Conestoga Christian Cougars, and things went their way on Thursday too. Oley Valley escaped with a win against Conestoga Christian by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Oley Valley.
Despite the loss, Conestoga Christian had strong showings from Paul Hurst, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds, and Josh Boutaugh, who scored 20 points along with five steals. The matchup was Hurst's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Oley Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Conestoga Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oley Valley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tulpehocken at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Conestoga Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against High Point Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully High Point Baptist Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 back in December of 2023.
