The Thorsby Rebels''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against Ranburne by a score of 22-12. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Thorsby also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Grayson McManus was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 74 yards and a touchdown. Thorsby also got a significant boost from Coden Cummings, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 114 yards.
Thorsby's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Malachi Allgood and his 2.5 sacks.
When it comes to explaining why Ranburne lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaide Garrett. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Garrett is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Thorsby's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Ranburne, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Thorsby will be playing in front of their home fans against Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Vincent is ranked 243rd, while Thorsby is ranked 218th). As for Ranburne, they will head out on the road to face off against Central of Coosa County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Central of Coosa County and three for Ranburne.
