Softball Recap: Ridgewood [Alwood/Cambridge] Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars with a sharp 16-6 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Courtney Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven matches. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] got a massive performance out of Gabby Dean, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Dean continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Mackenzie Peck was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
