Baseball Recap: Ida B. Wells' Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ida B. Wells ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Century Jaguars 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Guardians have posted since May 7, 2024.

Joah Kuehlthau looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cam Hammer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jackson Poole was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Ida B. Wells' win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Century, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ida B. Wells will venture away from home to take on Tigard at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Century, they will head out to face off against Clackamas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
