The Vail Christian Saints were the 76-58 winner over the Lake County Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Vail Christian suffered a rough 68-48 loss at the hands of Lake County on Friday.
Despite the loss, Vail Christian still got an impressive performance from Will Neumann, who scored 25 points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Neumann, who scored 10 points.
Leading Lake County to victory were Isaiah Martinez and Jonathan Valdez. Martinez scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals, while Valdez dropped a double-double on 28 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least 25% of Lake County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaren Peters , who scored 4 points along with 4 steals.
Vail Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lake County, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Vail Christian will be playing at home against Clear Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Clear Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Lake County, they will face off against Vail Mountain at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
