Basketball Game Preview: Pell City Panthers vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles

The Pell City Panthers will take on the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Pell City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Pell City will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Shades Valley, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. Pell City managed a 50-46 win over Shades Valley on Tuesday.

Pell City's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Saniya McFarlin, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds, and Zaniya Mitchell, who posted 12 points and three steals. Mitchell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. JaHannah Green was another key player, putting up three points.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Lincoln 60-30. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Pell City better keep an eye on Alexis Phillips. She was instrumental in Jacksonville's win, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine steals. That's the most steals Phillips has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Nicholson, who had 13 points and three steals.

Pell City pushed their record up to 7-16 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Jacksonville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-6.
