Basketball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Takes a Loss

It was fun while it lasted, but Seacrest Country Day's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Wednesday. They were beaten by the Barron Collier Cougars 86-52. The loss continues a trend for the Stingrays in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Seacrest Country Day lost, don't look at Ethan Bates. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. Bates' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Leon, who put up ten points and five assists.

Spencer Clayton had an outrageously good game for Barron Collier as he earned 27 points, to go along with six assists and three steals. That's the most points Clayton has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Olander, who had 12 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Seacrest Country Day fell to 3-1. As for Barron Collier, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Seacrest Country Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-47 defeat against First Baptist Academy on the 30th. As for Barron Collier, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-57 win against Dunbar on the 29th.
