Softball Recap: Branford Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Branford entered their tilt with Chiefland on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Indians. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Buccaneers this season.

Morgan Brennan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Blue, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Branford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chiefland only posted an OBP of .300.

Branford's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Chiefland, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Coming up, Branford will be playing at home against Trenton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Branford 3.7, Trenton 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Chiefland, they will head out on the road to take on Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dixie County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something Chiefland will no doubt try to take advantage of.
