This season hasn't been kind to the South Rowan Raiders, who are still winless after their 14th matchup. They were beaten by Northwest Cabarrus 85-49 on Friday. While losing is never fun, South Rowan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Northwest Cabarrus is ranked 176th).
Northwest Cabarrus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anderson Lee out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lee has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Justin Gonder, who scored ten points along with two steals.
South Rowan bumped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 20th straight on the road. As for Northwest Cabarrus, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Rowan will take on West Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Will Givens Jr. and Dalton Young. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concord at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Concord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
