The Terra Nova Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Menlo-Atherton Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Terra Nova is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Lowell on Friday. They fell 6-2 to the Cardinals. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Helena Nieve spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Terra Nova saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlyn Lobo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Lobo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Menlo-Atherton waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Fightin' Irish.
Kylie Cox was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Juliana Pandolfo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Menlo-Atherton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive contests.
Menlo-Atherton pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Terra Nova, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Terra Nova hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Menlo-Atherton struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Terra Nova suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Menlo-Atherton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Terra Nova avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
