Softball Recap: Jourdanton Takes Down San Diego in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jourdanton had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the San Diego Vaqueros a 4-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Indians/Squaws: when they faced off against the Vaqueros back in March, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

The result came thanks to Hailey Sralik's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 19 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Laney Briones was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Floyd, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jourdanton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 23-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for San Diego, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 20-11 record.

Jourdanton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vaqueros: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
