After having lost a blowout to Greeneville in their previous match, Union County were happy to find some success on Friday. Union County took down Claiborne 36-16. Claiborne can consider this payback for the 17-42 loss they dealt Union County the last time the teams encountered one another.
Union County's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 16 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Claiborne couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 16-0 heading into the break. The offense for Union County continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 20 points to put the game away. The win got them back to even at 2-2. The defeat dropped Claiborne's record to 1-3.
Next week Union County take on Sullivan East at 7:30 PM. Claiborne will look to defend their home turf against Unicoi County at 7:30 PM.
