Parkville is 4-0 against the Eagles since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Parkville Knights are on the road again and plays the Aberdeen Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th. Parkville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
Parkville pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dundalk. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Parkville came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Owls are ranked 231st).
The losing side was boosted by Mikko Persia, who scored 27 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Alexander, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, even though Joppatowne scored an imposing 70 points on Wednesday, Aberdeen still came out on top. Aberdeen took their game against the Mariners 77-70. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Aberdeen.
Aberdeen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DARION PARRIS, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. PARRIS is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. JOMAR CAMACHO was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Parkville's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4. As for Aberdeen, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Parkville hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.4 points per game. However, it's not like Aberdeen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Parkville beat the Eagles 85-72 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Aberdeen's Tylan Bass, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Parkville to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
