The Diamond Bar Brahmas fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Walnut 35-12. The result was nothing new for Diamond Bar, who have now won three matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was isaac insuasti, who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Insuasti was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Quinton Mendoza, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Walnut to a paltry 150 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Diamond Bar's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Morgan Magee and his two sacks.
Despite the loss, Walnut still got an impressive performance from Harland Fluker iii, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Diamond Bar has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Walnut, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Diamond Bar will take on Ontario at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ontario is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Walnut, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Nogales is ranked 749th, while Walnut is ranked 746th).
