The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will be taking part in a tournament against the Foothill Cougars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Las Plumas' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Nevada Union 9-0.
Kendal Headley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only five hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Adriana Heredia was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Presley Carlson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Foothill narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Sutter 2-1.
Elisea Wiegand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, Foothill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Bates, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another was Rylee Vakulich, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Foothill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sutter struck out 15 times.
The win got Las Plumas back to even at 1-1. As for Foothill, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-1.
Las Plumas came out on top in a nail-biter against Foothill in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Does Las Plumas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foothill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
