III Section IV recap September 4, 2013
Bradshaw Mountain moved up to 51 from 104 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in III Section IV. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of besting Apollo 32-21.
Flagstaff took down Central 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Mohave's dynamic duo of Dawson Rickets and Zach Brey proved to be unstoppable against Sierra Linda, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rickets threw for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns and Brey had 82 yards receiving. Kyler White helped Mohave's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 17 yards.
The Thunderbirds' dynamic duo of Rickets and Brey proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Kaine Bayze was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 248 yards on 22 carries as Prescott bested Sierra Linda. Teammate Chris Wright added to the ground attack by rushing for 65 yards.
Micah Nevarez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mingus lost to Snowflake. He completed 15 passes for 196 yards and also ran for 63 yards. Nevarez's favorite target this week was Jesse Rios, who caught 4 passes for 72 yards.
Bayze was a beast in the backfield as the Badgers beat Blue Ridge.
Wright made the biggest impact on defense this week as Prescott bested the Yellow Jackets. The 5-foot-11 senior.
Brey was the best wideout in the league this week as Rod Holmes' team bested George Burgess' team.
Rickets put up the best numbers in passing as the Thunderbirds beat the Bulldogs.
The Marauders' 6-foot-0 quarterback Nevarez is the league leader in passing yards this season with 196. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brey. The Mohave star has 3 catches for 82 yards.
The Eagles led III Section IV in scoring this week by notching 61 points on the Bobcats.
