Wisner-Pilger is 2-0 against Cross County since August of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wisner-Pilger Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Cross County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wisner-Pilger fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They claimed a resounding 44-12 victory over Lyons-Decatur Northeast on the road.
Meanwhile, Cross County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Shelby-Rising City, posting a 46-8 win at home.
Among those leading the charge was Lucas Jacobsen, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 42 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. Jacobsen's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Izaac Dickey was in the mix too, providing Cross County with two touchdowns.
Wisner-Pilger's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points per game. As for Cross County, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 8-0.
Wisner-Pilger beat Cross County 32-24 in their previous meeting back in August of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wisner-Pilger since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
