The Springwood Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Springwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Springwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They snuck past Lakeside School with a 59-55 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Macon-East Montgomery Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lowndes Academy.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Keagan Roney, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Johnson, who scored nine points.
Springwood's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-7 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Springwood was taken down by Macon-East Montgomery Academy 53-26 when the teams last played back in February. Can Springwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
