The Chicopee Pacers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by Central 78-30 on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chicopee in their matchups with Central: they've now lost eight in a row.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Angela Hector out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Hector's third in a row with at least ten points. Tyler Swan was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Chicopee's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Chicopee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Longmeadow at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Central will be home for the holidays to greet Minnechaug Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
