The Cicero Prep Academy Centurions can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 28-17 win over North Phoenix Preparatory Academy. That 11 points margin sets a new team best for Cicero Prep Academy this season.
Among those leading the charge was Madison Washburn, who scored 17 points along with five steals and five blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Maggie Hooppaw was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven steals and two blocks.
North Phoenix Preparatory Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sabrina Daniel, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Idemudia, who scored two points along with five steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cicero Prep Academy posted nine assists.
Cicero Prep Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Cicero Prep Academy will head out on the road to square off against Valley Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Lutheran will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Pasqual Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Pasqual Valley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
