Safford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Arbizo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Arbizo a new career-high. Damain Abril also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Douglas was able to grind out a solid victory over Casa Grande on Friday, taking the game 11-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Douglas got a massive performance out of Emiliano Fimbres, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Douglas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Casa Grande only posted an OBP of .400.
Safford's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Douglas, their record is now 7-4-1.
Safford suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Douglas when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Safford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
