The Smyer Bobcats is on the road again on Friday and play against the New Home Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on October 13th. Smyer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1164th, while New Home is ranked 428th).
Two Fridays ago, Smyer was beaten by Ropes 38-6. That's two games in a row now that Smyer has lost by exactly 32 points.
Meanwhile, New Home put another one in the bag two Fridays ago to keep their undefeated season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Seagraves 49-6 on the road. New Home pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Seagraves had no chance of recovering from.
Caleb Cook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 186 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Nevin Mojica was in the mix as well, providing New Home with two touchdowns.
New Home's win bumped their season record to 6-0 while Smyer's defeat dropped theirs to 1-5.
Smyer was taken down by New Home 70-8 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Smyer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
